Reading Candlestick Charts for Binary Trading: The Patterns That Matter
How to read candles on the Bynix chart — bodies, wicks, colour — and the handful of patterns (engulfing, pin bar, doji, three soldiers) that give useful BUY/SELL signals on short expiries. Plus how to use support and resistance lines.
Every candle on the Bynix chart tells a short story: where the price opened, how far buyers and sellers pushed it, and where it closed. Learning to read that story is the foundation of every binary strategy.
Anatomy of a candle
- Body — the distance between open and close. A long body means conviction; a tiny body means indecision.
- Wicks — the highest and lowest prices reached. A long upper wick means sellers rejected higher prices; a long lower wick means buyers stepped in.
- Colour — green closed above its open, red closed below.
Four patterns worth knowing
- Engulfing — a candle whose body completely covers the previous candle's body in the opposite direction. A bullish engulfing after a drop is a BUY signal on the next candle.
- Pin bar — a small body with one very long wick. A long lower wick at a support level is a classic BUY setup; a long upper wick at resistance is a SELL setup.
- Doji — open and close almost equal. On its own it is a pause, not a signal; wait for the next candle's direction.
- Three soldiers / three crows — three consecutive candles in the same direction with growing bodies. Momentum is strong; short expiries in the same direction work best right after the third candle.
Support and resistance
Use the drawing tools to place horizontal lines where the price has bounced at least twice. On the OTC markets these levels are respected surprisingly often because the price walk mean-reverts. A pin bar *at* a level is far stronger than one in the middle of nowhere.
Combining with expiry
- Pattern on the 1-minute chart → 1–3 minute expiry.
- Pattern on the 5-minute chart → 5–15 minute expiry.
Enter at the open of the candle *after* the pattern, not while it is still forming.
Practice drill
Open the demo, pick EUR/USD OTC on the 1-minute chart and spend a session only trading engulfing candles at drawn levels. Record every trade in the terminal's history and count how often the pattern paid.
